Sabre Teams Race - Moordialloc Sailing Club Sat. 7th April

28/2/2018

Picture
This is an invitation to all Sabre sailors within each club to participate in the annual the Sabre Teams Race to be held at Moordialloc Sailing Club on Saturday 7th April for an information session commencing at 13:00 hours.

This time round it will be in a slightly different format on the water which we have been using at MSC for a number of years and it works very well.

Every thing will be exactly the same except that the top two boats (1st & 2nd) from each team will sail around a 'laser weather mark' which will be situated a further 100 metres (approx) to windward of the Sabre weather mark. This mark will be rounded by these boats for the FIRST LAP ONLY.

This allows the 3rd & 4th boats in each team to take the lead and experience being at the front. Inversely for the 1st & 2nd team members they can hone their skills to catch up to those ahead.

It works very well as most of the time the 1st & 2nd team members only catch the 3rd & 4th team members on the last beat to the finish.

The confirmed date is 7th April and I would appreciate all clubs and the Sabre committee to advertise the event on the web site and at all clubs so that there is a big turnout.

I feel that this format will be more engaging for the latter have of the fleet who always trails home the winners.

More than two races can be organised on the day if required.

Please advise your Sabre Sailors of this event and MSC looks forward to seeing a good turn-out.
