Join APYCAlbert Park Yacht Club is the oldest continuing inland yacht club in Victoria. We've been around since 1872 and have a rich history, of which we are very proud. Many people have learned and developed their sailing at Albert Park Yacht Club. They have progressed to enjoy sailing socially; many to be good club level racing sailors; and in quite a number of cases state, national or international champions.
But, it doesn't stop there; we're still making history with our innovative and public spirited contributions to the sport of sailing and to the community through our Sailability programme helping disabled sailors and annual Wintersail Regatta for Junior Sailors. All APYC members realise they are on public land and the Lake belongs to everyone, so everyone is welcome to come and share all of it. Our club takes great pride in making it possible to get the best of all there is to offer. Over the years it seemed that APYC has become the unofficial protector of the lake; lobbying against various environmental threats ranging from dredging in 1876 to a bowling alley in 1962 through to constructing a bridge to the island and building a 5 storey restaurant with a carpark for 250 cars and most recently the redirecting of rainfall runoff. The club is “good sports” accredited and therefore has an approved liquor licence and appropriate bar management plan ensuring the responsible service of alcohol at all our gatherings. Albert Park Yacht Club offers a safe and convenient place to sail year round in the heart of the city. Add to this a great social calendar and you've got a pretty great place! Yacht - Classes Sailed
Even if you have a different class boat you can sail in races and compete in the Club handicap events. Trophies are presented for all classes with 3 or more boats. For miscellaneous mono-hulls the VYC yardstick handicap method is used. The Club also presents trophies according to individual boat handicaps, calculated for each crew that has recorded results. This Club handicap competition allows every crew to be in contention for a trophy.

Some special events are also held on Sundays. We also have midweek twilight sailing on selected Wednesday evenings during summer. Saturday race briefing occurs
Crewing & Club Boats If you don’t have your own boat there are a number of alternatives that would enable you to sail. Club members are often looking for people to crew with them in Saturday racing. The best way to get a crew place is to come to the Club about 1230h on a racing Saturday and ask the Race Officer of the Day to notify members of your availability at the race briefing. There are also club-owned Pacers available upon application for use by members who can satisfy the Sailing School Coordinator of their sailing competency.
