News: Solo State Championships
Last weekend we hosted the first four races of the Solo State
Championships,9 entrants enjoyed fairly light conditions with occasional
puffs up to 15 kts. Grant Hagget came out firing all guns and took the
first 2 races, followed by Danny Marrinon and Brian Jones. Sunday was a
different story the wind had got up a little and it seemed the recent
polish job on Grants boat was wearing thin. Brian Jones took the 3rd
race with a charge up the last beat, Grant held on to second with Brian
Taylor 3rd. The 4th race was dominated by Brian Jones from the start, he
won with Grant clawing back to second, in the beat to the line, Danny
was 3rd with the last 5 contestants sailing their own course and scoring
'DNF' The races saw a number of capsizes with the honours going to
Damian with 5 in one race. The most amusing event was Philip falling out
of his boat. Race 5 and 6 starts are 11.00am and 2.27pm next
Saturday...
Well this Saturday brought some strong winds, unfortunately Grant had some gear failure and an exhausting last race, It left Brian and Danny to fight it out in testing conditions. Danny won both races which left the results tied after the drop, on countback they still had equal scores so it was down to who had won the last race which of course was Danny. Congratulations Danny.
