Anna Cripsey
(Previous Head Coach) Hi! I'm Anna, and I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you at WinterSail!
My sailing journey started right here at the lake at a Tackers program in 2013. Since then, I have competed on many international Opti teams, become national champion in the 420 class and been part of the Australian Futures Team in the 49er FX. For the last three years I have been competing in the IQ Foil class and working towards hopefully representing Australia at the LA Olympics. Outside of my own sailing, I am a Uni student and have been teaching and coaching sailing for the past 7 years, primarily working with the Optimist class. For me, sailing has always been about pushing myself out of my comfort zone, having fun and experiencing the freedom out on the water which nothing else compares to. I'm excited to share my knowledge and passion with you guys and hope to see you all at the lake! |
Mark Tonner-Joyce - Head Coach
Hi! I'm Mark.
I believe sailing is much more than learning to handle a boat - it builds confidence, resilience, independence and connection. Over more than 40 years, I have helped thousands of young people and adults discover the joy of sailing through experiences that are challenging and fun. Drawing on Purposeful Play and Game Sense approaches, I help participants develop skills, knowledge and decision-making, in ways that are engaging and enjoyable. As a nationally accredited coach, I work with clubs, schools and class associations to develop capable sailors, confident coaches and thriving sailing communities. |
Clare Olding
Hi! I'm Clare.
I’ve been sailing for almost 20 years and coaching/instructing for close to 10. I grew up racing international cadets and 29ers/49ers before pivoting to keelboats after high school. Now my focus is mostly offshore racing and I’m competing in my first Sydney Hobart this December. I’ve been involved in WinterSail since I was a kid and it’s one of my favourite events to coach. WinterSail is an amazing weekend for gaining skills and confidence and I can’t wait to meet everyone this year. |

Hi! I'm Jack.
With three years of experience coaching Optimist and ILCA (Laser) sailors, I am committed to helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence on the water. As a former Australian Sailing Pathways sailor and current ILCA competitor, I combine competitive sailing experience with a supportive coaching approach that encourages both performance and enjoyment. |
Hi! I’m Philip.
I started sailing when I was five years old, here on the lake in my Opti. I've had the privilege of representing Australia internationally many times in the Optimist class. I then moved into a 420, before stepping into the IQ Foil, in which I am now actively campaigning for the Olympics. I’ve been coaching for 6 years and enjoy showing new sailors how much fun the sport is, and passing on the lessons I've learnt over the years! |
