4.15pm - 6.30pm Feburary 8th - March 28th 2012 In the spirit of the APYC Learn to Sail 2 and Yachting Australia’s Tackers Program 3, we are pleased to announce our 2012 Junior Twilight Series. The program is open to APYC Junior member's (New Members Welcome) who's sailing proficiency is up to Tackers 3 or higher.
Our OziOpti boats may be used for these sessions, however sailors are encouraged to take advantage of using their own boats for improved performance and motivation. This regular program will be run along the lines of a training regatta. Our Club Rescue boat skipper will assist in supervision or the afternoon activities. A Professional Yachting Australia coach will work with the young sailors developing skills, and facilitating short course raceing. Coaches will be added as required with a ratio of one coach to no more than 8 boats. Course/Date 2012 Activity

Course Outline:
4.15: Arrive & Rig Yachts* 4.30: Ready to sail - yachts on shore. 4.35: On shore briefing with coach. 5.00: Take to the water for specific sailing drills ie., Gybing, Beating, etc. 5.30: Short Course Race - Skills 6.15: Sail to Club & De-Rig* 6.30: Dinner at Club** Web Links: Optimist - Wikapedia | * Parental assistance is required. (This is not a baby sitting service) The success of this program, like Nippers, Auskick and so many junior development programs will be a reflection of successful parental assistance. Other training options are possible, however these would likely cost hundreds of dollars. We wish to maintain an affordable program.
